Ken East Memorial Trophy + updates on lakes

Date Added: 26/08.2015

Last Sunday saw the match for the Ken East Memorial Trophy. Unfortunately the club who Ken fished with and who asked to fish the match at our fishery, failed to turn up. I had already agreed with the club organiser for some of Kens friends from our fishery to join in and fish the match. Kens wife and family came along to present the trophy.
The first four were
1 Brian Clark peg24 86-15 (carp,bream,tench,crucian.
2 Joe Goulding peg27 49-00
3. Chris Howe peg 6 47-4 ( Kens nephew)
4.Adam Schofield peg14 44-5.

Generall fishing.
Laneside very well with excellent catches of carp tench and bream, The introduction of the 2-7-to 3-7 mirror carp in march has certainly made a big difference. plenty of doubles being caught. Method feeder doing well.Pole with corn, meat and worm also producing the goods.
Roadside lake fishing extremely well, with 40 lb+ of silver fish being caught regularly. Various bates are advised. meat, pellet, and corn being the most favoured. The weed problem in this pond has been resolved to a large extent.
Fieldside lake has come on in leaps and bounds since the re-stocking at the beginning of March. It is fast becoming a favourite with some of the anglers. Nets up to 50lb have been reported by some of the fishermen. It is stocked with small mirrors, skimmers, ide, roach, perch, rudd and some tench.

A number of you will remember Ken, who lost his life in a road accident last year. Kens wife Maria would like us to hold a memorial match in his name. The match will take place on Sunday August 23rd when Kens friends will be taking part in a Open Match. Anyone anglers wishing to take part are most welcome. Ken used to fish our open matches and it is hoped some of them will take part.
The lake has not been decided on yet and will depend a lot on the numbers attending. Anyone interested please get in touch on 07812721182

After a busy bank holiday weekend, it is nice to report all lakes fishing well. The Roadside lake is producing an abundance of silver fish and local angler John "Hot rod" Simpson certainly lived up to his name, with a marvellous net of silvers, including ide, tench, roach, perch, rudd, bream and the much sought after crucians.
Over on the fieldside lake, more crucians, mirrors, ide, bream.perch and roach were taking the bait and giving good catches. The Laneside lake was providing good weights with Louis Ducker hitting the 100 lb mark, fishing 8mm banded pellet. Other good netss ranged from 50-70lb. The all night fishermen had some nice fish,(see gallery pics) also, Simon had a good crucian, (may have been borrowed. He knows what I mean.)

Whitwell angling club fished the last of their three match series on Sunday. The weather was far kinder than on the first match, when gale force winds made it near on impossible to fish off some of the pegs. The overall winner was Gary Levers with 94-6.
